Currently digg is controlled by the upcomming bury crowd - these people are *nothing* like digg's normal users - they're abusers who realized upcomming buries count the most.
Only digg's frontpage users can accurately censor - every alternative will be gamed.
And the algorithm? It's often more corrupt - Top users have more "diversity" than normal users... Cute animal pics have more "diversity" than important news... And people who submit random stuff have more "diversity" than real news submitters.
(Who're censored by the algorithm.)
Frankly it appears to promote stories completely at random - "who can get the most noob votes?"
Digg should have lower weighted upcoming buries, higher weighted frontpage buries, & more stories promoted to the frontpage. (To *then* get buried.)
