Ed Brown claimed he'd give one million dollars to anyone who "showed him the law." (He won't.) However if Brown actually paid I'd give every penny to charity.
POINT #1 - The IRS tax code was passed by both houses of Congress & signed by President Eisenhower - It *is* the law.

"Section 1 of the Internal Revenue Code says that 'There is hereby imposed on the taxable income of every [married individual, surviving spouse, head of a household, unmarried individual, or married individual filing a separate return] a tax determined in accordance with the following table.. ..'

Point #3 - There's many terms that *mean* "liable." There's "accountable," "obligated," "imposed," etc.
Quote:
"The word 'impose' means 'to establish or apply as compulsory; levy.'"

What is taxable income?
They will refer you to Gross income.
What is Gross income?
They will tell you that gross income is “Income from all sources derived.”
The only problem is you cannot define “gross income” by using the word income in the definition, the reason for this is we still do not know what income is.
This is done for a particular reason, the IRS does not want you to know what income is.

Income is the profit derived from corporate activity, most people do not make an income because people are not corporations. Yet people voluntarily assess themselves as if though they do have an income. The Supreme Court decisions that turn on corporate gains as being the constitutional definition of income have never been overturned. See EISNER v. MACOMBER Supreme court.
